The St. Louis Blues fans might have been relieved to see that forward Ivan Barbashev got away with a questionable hit in Game 5 of the NHL Stanley Cup on Thursday.

In the first period of the matchup against the Bruins with the game tied 0-0, Barbashev went up high with his shoulder and hit Boston forward Marcus Johansson.

Barbashev was not penalized for the hit despite the fact that Johansson did go down to the ice.

However, relief has just turned to stress for the Blues as the NHL Player Safety has just announced that Barbashev is getting a hearing today for his illegal check to the head of Johansson.

It would be a second suspension for the Blues during the Stanley Cup final as  teammate Oskar Sundqvist was banned one game for his hit during Game 2 on Matt Grzelcyk.

Grzelcyk remains out with an injury in the series.

The Blues won a controversial game last night in Boston after Tyler Bozak seemed to trip Bruins forward Noel Acciari in the Boston zone. The play allowed David Perron to pick up the loose puck and beat netminder Tuukka Rask to score the eventual game-winning goal.

This could be some sort of good news for the Bruins after last night’s tough blow…
