Breaking: Blues get the worst possible news

Just when this team started to really get on a roll…

According to a report from St. Louis Blues beat writer Lou Korac, the team will be without the services of top scorer Jaden Schwartz for at least the next six weeks.

This is devastating news for a team and a player who had seemingly hit their stride this season. The 25-year-old Schwartz has been a revelation this season for the Blues scoring 14 goals and 35 points in just 30 games playing alongside Brayden Schenn and Vladimir Tarasenko on the Blues’ top line.

The Blues currently sit atop the Western Conference standings with an impressive 21-8-2 record to start the season. The loss of Schwartz will certainly be a tough pill to swallow, but there’s reason to believe that the Blues have the required depth to pull throw in his absence.

The team can still rely on Schenn, Tarasenko, Paul Stastny, Vladimir Sobotka and Alex Steen to put up points. While few lack the dynamic game-breaking ability of Schwartz, the Blues are very much an “offense” by committee team.
