Coming off a career year in which he produced 22 goals and 47 points in 79 games, Minnesota Wild speedster Jason Zucker will require surgery for a sports hernia injury.

News of the impending surgery was reported by StarTribune reporter Michael Russo who claims that the team will make the news official tomorrow. While there hasn’t been any discussion of a timetable for Zucker’s return, most individuals manage to rehab from the surgery within 2-3 months. If that’s the case for Zucker, it means he’ll be ready to go for training camp and preseason for the 2017-18 season.

Wild fans are hopeful that Zucker can build off of his breakout campaign next season and provide the team with consistent scoring punch in its top six forward group. At just 25 years-old Zucker still has considerable upside and there’s a chance that his best is yet to come. Hopefully, this injury and surgery doesn’t cause any setbacks in his development.
