Prospects Ryan Fitzgerald and Emil Johansson have both signed entry-level deals with the Boston Bruins, General Manager Don Sweeney announced today.

Fitzgerald is a 22-year-old center with a left-handed shot who just finished his senior year with Boston College. In four seasons with Boston College he had 66 goals and 66 assist for 132 points in 152 games. The North Redding, Massachusetts native was drafted 120th overall in the 4th round of the 2013 NHL Draft. Although only 5’10, the speedy forward has both playmaking and goal scoring prowess, making him a versatile offensive threat.

Johansson, 20, is a defensive prospect who also sports a left-handed shot and a heavy checking presence. The 5’11, 194 lbs Swede is trustworthy in his own end, and has the game sense to both protect his team and set up breakout plays with excellent passing ability. He doesn’t lack in the shooting department either, scoring 7 goals along with 10 assists in 49 games for his team, Djurgardens IF, in Sweden this season. Johansson was selected by Boston 206th overall in the 7th round of the 2014 NHL Draft.

Fitzgerald signed a two-year entry level contract that will begin next season, and is currently reporting the Providence Bruins in the AHL on an Amateur Tryout agreement.

Johansson signed a three-year entry level deal that also begins next season, and will skate with the Providence Bruins for the rest of this season on a Professional Tryout agreement.
