BREAKING: Bruins Rookie cutting his teeth against NHL’s top team
Keystone Press

Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson will be making his NHL debut in the Bruins’ last game of the regular season tonight against the Washington Capitals.

The 20-year-old Swedish center is fresh off an outstanding season in the NCAA with Boston University, where he tallied a person best 14 goals and 19 assists, for 33 points in 39 games. Forsbacka-Karlsson, 6’1 and 192 lbs, shoots right-handed, has superior playmaking ability, and is quick on his skates. He was taken 45th overall in the second round of the 2015 NHL Entry draft by the Bruins.

According to reports from the Boston Globe, the Bruin’s lineup tonight will be as follow:

Spooner-Bergeron-Backes  Vatrano-Krejci-Pastrnak  Beleskey-Forsbacka Karlsson -Stafford  Schaller-Moore-Nash

Bruins forwards Jimmy HayesTorey Krug, and Noel Acciari are all listed as being sidelined with day-to-day injuries, and Brad Marchand will miss tonight’s game as he serves his two-game suspension.

It’s the final curtain call for the Bruins’ regular season, and while their playoff participation is locked, who Boston will be facing in the first round is not. If Boston picks up a win tonight, they will be locked in to play the Ottawa Senators in the first round. If they don’t manage to get any points at all, then their final game of the regular season could serve as a post-season preview.

If Toronto can win their last two games of the season, they could finish a point above the Bruins, knocking Boston down into the second wild card spot and forcing them to play the Presidents Trophy winning Capitals.
