Breaking: Bruins sign Charlie McAvoy to a brand new deal.

We reported on the rumor earlier this morning but now it is official.

According to a breaking news report from TSN National Hockey League insider Bob McKenzie the Boston Bruins have come to terms on a new deal with star defenseman Charlie McAvoy. The deal will be a 3 year contract that will pay McAvoy an average annual value of $4.9 million per season, very similar to the contract that was signed by Columbus Blue Jackets star defenseman Zach Werenski just a few short days ago.

In fact McAvoy will earn $100,000 less than Werenski in terms of average annual value per season, however he will make up that $300,000 deficit with a salary of $7.3 million in the final year of his deal. What that means is that McAvoy's qualifying offer will be $300,000 higher than the one required for Werenski who will be earning a cool $7 million in the final year of his own new deal.

This is obviously great news for the Bruins who are expecting McAvoy back at training camp today, and great news for the Bruins fan base as well.
