Bad news for the Boston Bruins. The team has announced Thursday morning that defenseman Torey Krug has suffered a non-displaced fracture to his jaw.
The blue liner was hit in the jaw by a puck during the preseason game against the Detroit Red Wings and did not finish the contest.
Krug will be out and re-evaluated in three weeks, meaning he will miss the Bruins' opener.
In 81 games last season in Boston, Krug recorded eight goals and 51 points.
