Breaking: Calder Trophy favorite sent down to AHL

The New York Islanders made a controversial decision on Wednesday, sending young forward Josh Ho-Sang to the AHL Sound Tigers.


The 21-year had been a healthy scratch for Saturday's home game against the San Jose Sharks and last night's matchup agains the Arizona Coyotes

Ho-Sang had four assists through his first four games of the campaign, but he was shut down completely over his last two outings. Some experts believed the solution was to let him observe the game from the press box to get back into it, but Isles management has chosen a different path. 

At the start of the season, many believed Ho-Sang would be an active candidate in the Calder Trophy race. 

Fans are already outraged by the Isles' decision and did not hold back on social media when talking about the 28th overall pick in 2014 draft:
