There has been a lot of fuss between the pipes in Calgary lately, but the Flames look to have secured their future between the pipes with Tyler Parsons.

Parsons hails from Chesterfield Township, Michigan and has played the last three seasons in the OHL backstopping the London Knights. At 6’1, 185 lbs, the 19-year-old has been putting up impressive numbers since his debut in 2014. He was drafted 54th overall in the second round of the 2016 NHL Draft by Calgary.

Parsons put up a 2.37 GGA and a .925 save percentage for the Knights this season appearing in 34 games, good for best save percentage in the league. Last year he had a 2.33 GGA and .921 save percentage across 49 games. Consistency is key when evaluating young goalies, and Parsons has his game locked down.

There is a lot to be excited for as Parsons has excelled at every level, stepping up to the challenges that each tier of professional hockey brings. He is a CHL and OHL Champion, won the Memorial Cup’s Most Outstanding Goaltender award, and was part of the American team that won the Under-20 WJC Gold Medal this year.

Parsons will most likely will suit up with the Abbotsford Heat in the AHL, where this potential star is expected to flourish. With Parsons in the mix, Calgary’s goaltending future looks bright.
