Breaking: Canadian Olympic team trying to lure two players away from the NHL!

We have a very interesting development to report.

As most hockey fans will know by now commissioner Gary Bettman and the National Hockey League took a very controversial stance on the 2016 Winter Olympic Games in South Korea, and now it sounds like at least one international team is making major preparations in response to that stance.

According to a report from The Canadian Press, it now appears that Team Canada is attempting to lure two big names away from the National Hockey League, specifically veterans Shane Doan and Jarome Iginla.

“We want to look at all possibilities, but there has to be a long-term plan because it’s going to very intense (at the Olympics) and it’s going to be great hockey and guys are going to have to have a plan for the year,” Burke said as per The Canadian Press.

However whether or not Doan or Iginla would be interested in going this route may be another matter entirely. In fact Iginla's agent reached out to The Canadian Press via email and indicated that they are not currently considering the possibility.

This likely means that Iginla's first choice will be to play another season on an NHL team, however anything could happen between now and the 2018 Olympics.
