Vancouver Canucks forward Derek Dorsett was forced to leave the team today and fly back to Vancouver to be evaluated by the team doctors. He has experienced symptoms of neck and back stiffness recently. Dorsett underwent a cervical fusion procedure last year, and the latest symptoms he had forced the team to take this precautionary decision.


Dorsett, 30, was drafted 189th overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2006. He played 515 games in the NHL with the Blue Jackets, the New York Rangers and the Canucks, registering 127 points and 1314 penalty minutes. He added two points in 43 playoff games. The Canucks acquired him via trade from New York in 2014

So far this season, he has scored seven goals and added two assists for nine points in 20 games,
