Breaking: Canucks place young forward on waivers
Keystone Press

The Vancouver Canucks have placed forward Reid Boucher on waivers. If he clears 24 hours for now, he’ll become eligible to join the team’s AHL affiliate the Utica Comets.

Boucher was claimed by the Canucks off of waivers last season from the New Jersey Devils and went on to put up five goals and seven points with the Canucks in 2016-17. The 24-year-old could join his 4th team in one calendar year if another team puts in a claim on him before 9am PT tomorrow morning.

The young sniper looked to have the inside track at a roster spot with the offensively challenged Canucks this season, but outstanding preseason showings from youngsters Brock Boeser and Jake Virtanen have pushed Boucher down the team’s depth chart. There’s a chance he stays within the organization and earns his way back up to the NHL, but don’t count on it. With stints in Vancouver, Nashville and New Jersey and no real results, this could be the end of the road for his once promising NHL career.
