The Vancouver Canucks announced on Friday that the club has signed defenseman Mitch Eliot to a three-year, entry level contract.

The 20-year-old blue liner  is currently in his second season with the Sarnia Sting of the OHL, where he ranks fifth on the team in scoring with 28 points (7-21-28) in 32 games.

His point total this season also ranks him fifth among OHL defensemen in scoring. Prior to joining the Sting in February 2018, Eliot played two seasons with the Michigan State Spartans, where he posted two goals and eight points in 61 games. He also took part in two seasons with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL prior to that. He put up five goals and 12 assists in a total of 113 contests.

He also served as captain of Team USA at the Ivan Hlinka Tournament back in 2016.
