According to a report from TSN’s Frank Seravalli, the Vancouver Canucks and Anaheim Ducks have swapped veteran defensemen with Michael Del Zotto heading to Anaheim and Luke Schenn heading to Vancouver. Seravalli also reports that the Canucks will receive a late round pick, presumably in the upcoming 2018 NHL Entry draft, as part of the deal.

Check it out:

The Canucks happened to be playing the Edmonton Oilers while the trade went down, but Del Zotto was a healthy scratch.

More on this deal to come.

UPDATE:

Canucks insider Dan Murphy of Sportsnet has confirmed that the pick included in the trade is the Ducks' 2020 7th round pick. Also, Schenn will report directly to the AHL's Utica Comets, thereby opening a roster spot for injured rookie superstar Elias Pettersson, who is expected to return from injury this week.

UPDATE:

The Canucks have now officially confirmed the deal.

Vancouver, BC - Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the club has acquired defenceman Luke Schenn and a 7th round pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for defenceman Michael Del Zotto. Schenn will report directly to the Utica Comets.
Schenn, 29, has split the 2018.19 season between Anaheim (eight games played) and the San Diego Gulls (2-8-10 in 22 games played). In 716 career NHL games split between Anaheim, Arizona, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Toronto, the 6-2, 221-pound defenceman has registered 143 points (30-113-143). He has also collected two goals and an assist in 12 career Stanley Cup Playoff games.
A native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Schenn was drafted in the first-round (fifth overall) by Toronto in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
