The Washington Capitals signed forward Alex Chiasson to a one-year contract, according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports. He was on a professional tryout with the Capitals, and he earned himself a spot on the team.

Chiasson, 27, was drafted 38th overall by the Dallas Stars in 2008. The Stars traded him to Ottawa in 2014 in a deal involving Jason Spezza. In 350 games with the Stars, the Senators and the Calgary Flames, Chiasson recorded 106 points.
