Breaking: Caps’ Kuznetsov gets taken out with ugly head shot

Washington Capitals star Evgeny Kuznetsov left the game in the first period of tonight’s contest against the Winnipeg Jets after taking a head shot from Jets forward Brandon Tanev.

Tanev was assessed a two minute minor for an illegal check to the head, which the Jets managed to kill off. Kuznetsov played on the Caps’ ensuing powerplay, but left the bench shortly after to get inspected. 

Kuznetsov has not returned for the second period and is considered questionable for the rest of the game. The suspicion is that he’s undergoing the NHL’s concussion protocol and taking time in the “Quiet Room.”
