The Detroit Red Wings ready themselves to face off against the Vancouver Canucks tonight at the Joe Louis Arena, as they currently take to the ice for their routine morning skate. After losing six consecutive games and then finally earning themselves a win against the Philadelphia Flyers at the Wells Fargo Center for the first time since 1997 two nights ago, it’s imperative that head coach Jeff Blashill’s troops string together a few wins.

The team has struggled recently, and their victory against the Flyers required a shootout but rookie Andreas Athanasiou sealed the deal with a beautiful deke to give his team a little momentum heading into tonight’s matchup.

Jimmy Howard was in nets and stopped 23 of the 25 shots he faced, and brought his 2016-2017 numbers to a very admirable 1.26 goals against average and a .958% save percentage.

With that in mind, Blashill gives the nod to Howard.
