BREAKING: Coach Shares Update on Injured Veteran
Fansided

After undergoing back surgery during the offseason, forward Tomas Jurco of the Detroit Red Wings was placed on the long-term injured reserve. Players on the LTIR are generally expected to miss a minimum of 10 games and 24 days.

A little less than a week ago, we reported that he experienced a setback in his rehabilitation and that his recovery is delayed by a few more weeks. He was initially expected to be ready for contact during practice and had began skating two weeks ago before the bad news was announced.

Head coach Jeff Blashill clarified the situation, and told Ansar Khan of MLive.com earlier today that Jurco will require another week of practice before reporting to the Grand Rapids Griffins for a conditioning stint.

How long that stint will last is anybody’s guess, though the 23-year-old who spent the last three seasons with the Red Wings should be joining the team by the end of the month.
