Breaking: Coach Sullivan confirms huge return for the Penguins.
Keystone Press

The Pittsburgh Penguins will be getting a huge boost to their line up on Thursday night.

Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette was the first to report that veteran goaltender Matt Murray was the first goaltender off the ice after the morning skate today, a sign that he would be back in goal for the Penguins.

The Penguins activated Murray off of injured reserve on Tuesday so the timing makes sense, and now head coach Mike Sullivan has confirmed Mackey's report. According to the Penguins official social media account, Sullivan has in fact named Matt Murray the starting goaltender for tonight's game.

Murray has not played since November 27th when a collision with Philadelphia Flyers forward Jacob Voracek resulted in him suffering an injury. The Penguins have played 6 games since then without Murray in their line up.

While there may be some rust to shake off, Murray was already having somewhat of a down year. Fans will be hoping that the time off will have given him time to reset and return to the form he showed the last two seasons.
