The New York Rangers have announced that they’ve demoted defenseman Anthony DeAngelo to the team’s AHL affiliate the Hartford WolfPack.

DeAngelo, acquired from the Arizona Coyotes in the Derek Stepan trade this offseason, has just one assist in eight games with the Rangers so far this season, following an impressive 14 point rookie campaign in just 39 games a season ago. The 22-year-old blue liner has elite level talent, but has been plagued with the reputation of having a poor attitude and a lack of commitment.

Because of his sheer talent, he’s a popular sleeper pick for many fantasy hockey fans, but with his demotion and no clear indication of when he’ll work his way back into the Rangers’ lineup, he’s a safe bet to waive or drop for pools.
