BREAKING: Crucial update on Habs' forward who took a Zdeno Chara slapshot to the head

We have a crucial update concerning Montreal Canadiens' forward Phillip Danault's condition, just minutes after he took a slapshot from Boston Bruins' defenseman Zdeno Chara directly to the head. The 24-year-old athlete was taken off the ice on a stretcher, just over one minute before the end of the second period.

Chara set the record for the hardest shot in the history of the NHL with 108.8 mph (175.1 km/h), back in 2012. Thankfully, the shot that hit Danault was "only" going at 76 miles per hour.

Sportsnet journalist Eric Engels gave us more information about the Danault's condition:



Chara went and apologized to Danault, and even stayed on the ice after most of the Habs' players left for the locker room. 

Even after both teams came back from the locker room, Chara asked Habs' defenseman Jordie Benn how Danault was doing. As Jared Book said on Twitter, the 6-foot-9, 250-pound defenseman is a real class act:
