BREAKING: Defense Units Announced

The Red Wings are sixth overall in goals against, thanks to its defense.

Raise your hand if you thought that the Detroit Red Wings would start their 2016-2017 regular season schedule with eight out of a possible 12 points and a 4-2-0 record. I know I didn’t, but the team’s chemistry on all fronts seems to be coming together nicely. After all, defeating the Nashville Predators and San Jose Sharks back-to-back is no small feat.

 

As it stands, the team is eighth overall in the National Hockey League for goals per game with an average of 3.33, sixth overall in goals against with 2.50 and their power play is clicking at 24% for eight overall. Of course, credit where credit is due, the defensive pairings that have come under fire during the offseason and throughout the preseason schedule have pulled their weight, led by none other than Mike Green and his seven points in six games.
