Breaking: Defenseman done for the season with two serious injuries.

There are injuries and then there are injuries.

The Winnipeg Jets have announced that one of their prized defensemen, 26 year old Tyler Myers, will be sidelined for several months as a result of not one but two serious injuries, both of which will require Myers to undergo surgery to repair the damage.

The most major of the two injuries is a hip injury that according to the Jets will require as much as 5 months to repair, this is a significant length of time to miss in recovery, and very likely raises some doubts about the availability of Myers to start next season, and doubts about what kind of shape he will be in to start the season.

The second injury, the more minor of the two procedures according to the Jets is a knee injury, and no timetable was given for this particular injury because it appears the hip surgery must be done first. We believe it is safe to assume the knee surgery and recovery should fit within the massive 5 month period required to recover from the hip injury, but that is only speculation at this point.

This is a big loss for Winnipeg, one that could impact next season as well.
