Breaking: Detroit loses one of their talented young forwards on waivers.

The Detroit Red Wings took a big gamble this week and it has not paid off.

The Red Wings made the decision to place forward Teemu Pulkkinen on waivers and when that announcement was made there was a widely held belief that the young forward would not clear the waiver process with one team almost certainly claiming him.

Unfortunately for the Wings and their fans that is exactly what has happened, and the Wings have now lost Teemu Pulkkinen to the Minnesota Wild who have acquired a fourth round pick that average a point every three games last season for nothing at all.

Obviously the Red Wings had to be aware this scenario was likely, and obviously they were prepared for this as a result, but it still has to sting to lose a young talent for no return.
