Keystone Press.

The injuries seem to be coming out of the woodwork for the Penguins after their Stanley Cup run.

The latest victim of the injury bug is rookie forward Daniel Sprong, and today the Penguins announced via their official website that Sprong had gone under the knife to surgically repair an injury to his right shoulder.

According to the official announcement Sprong suffered the injury during practice, and as if that wasn't bad enough the timeline for his recovery is devastating, with the Penguins revealing he is expected to miss seven to eight months.

Sprong was injured during practice while serving as one of the ‘Black Aces’ during the Penguins’ Stanley Cup championship run.

Sprong will be sidelined 7-to-8 months.

A tough blow to a 19 year old who was looking to break into the National Hockey League.
