The Vancouver Canucks have confirmed the worst.
On Tuesday the team officially announced that veteran forward Loui Eriksson was headed to long-term injured reserve after suffering a knee injury that will keep him out of the line up for four to six weeks. The Canucks have reported that the injury is a sprain, but obviously given the length of his recovery it's a relatively severe knee sprain.
Eriksson has struggled to live up to his big billing in Vancouver, coming nowhere close to the 63 point season he put up as a member of the Boston Bruins just one season prior to signing a 6-year deal with the Canucks.
With just one assist in his first four games this season, this latest injury has to be a serious concern for both the Canucks, who are paying him an average annual value of $6 million and their fan base.
