Breaking: Devastating update on Capitals forward T.J. Oshie.

If you were hoping for some good news on the T.J. Oshie front then unfortunately you may want to turn away and stop reading immediately.

According to a breaking news report from Washington Capitals insider Isabelle Khurshudyan of the Washington Post, it now appears that the talented Washington Capitals will not skate again for his team during the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs. This is obviously the worst case scenario for the Capitals and you have to imagine that this will drastically impact their chances of repeating as Stanley Cup Champions this season.

From the Washington Post:

Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie is highly unlikely to play again this postseason, according to multiple people with knowledge of the situation. The team has said Oshie is out “indefinitely” with an undisclosed “upper-body” injury after he was pushed into the boards by Carolina Hurricanes forward Warren Foegele in the third period of Thursday’s Game 4. The first-round series between the teams is tied at two games apiece.

Oshie was wearing a sling after the game, according to one person who saw him, and as he left the ice hunched over, he appeared to be favoring his right arm and shoulder.

It is hard to imagine how the situation could be more dire for the Capitals, Oshie is obviously a huge part of what this team does offensively and in fact had already contributed a goal and an assist in this series prior to going down in the first period of Game 4. There's also the matter of Carolina Hurricanes rookie Warren Foegele to consider as the young man has reportedly had a pretty rough time following the incident. There's certainly a discussion to be had about the hit from Foegele being a dirty play but the 23 year old has since received death threats on social media, threats that include content that features both him and his girlfriend. Hopefully this news will not resort in more of that behavior, although I certainly can respect the fans who will express their displeasure with him in much more reasonable fashion.

Oshie is now the second player to have been ruled out of the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the Capitals, the team also lost Michal Kempny at the end of the regular season to a hamstring injury.
