The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has announced a suspension.

According to a report from the NHL's official website, Edmonton Oilers forward Patrick Maroon has been suspended for two games for "interference," as as a result of a hit on Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty.

Player Safety has cited both the fact that Drew Doughty never touched the puck as the reason for their review. They also cited the fact that the hit was delivered with significant force to the head of Doughty as the reason for the multi-game suspension.

Strangely enough it was Doughty who had sent a message to McDavid prior to the game regarding the possibility of hitting him, but it seems that Doughty got the worst of it on Tuesday night.
