On June 27, the Washington Capitals announced they have a deal with upcoming coveted UFA.

As reported by TSN's top insider Bob McKenzie, Brett Connolly has agreed to terms on a two-year deal with Washingtona at an AAV of $1.5M.

Selected sixth overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, he joined the team in 2011–12. He was later traded by the Lightning to play with the Boston Bruins.

The 25-year-old forward played 276 games in the NHL. He scored 42 goals and registered 40 assists for a total of 82 points.
