Breaking: Duchene changes his mind

Things could get very awkward in Denver...

It seems to be a good day for Colorado Avalanche fans and, especially, management. BSN Denver has confirmed that forward Matt Duchene is in Denver, and is most likely going to report to the team.

The Avalanche veterans and other camp invitees are attending the first day of training camp, and this is the first positive developments in the Duchene's saga in the recent weeks.

The 26-year-old has been on the trading block all summer long, and recently missed a charity golf outing and informal practices. All signs pointed to him not attending training camp; his agent Pat Brisson refused to answer many questions of his client's presence at camp in the past few days.

This is a good sign, though it will be interesting to see a player who is expected to be traded, return to his locker room. But Duchene still has two years left on his deal, with a $6 million cap hit. And general manager Joe Sakic is looking for a hefty return for his forward... so until then, Duchene remains with the Avalanche.

Let's see how this unfolds!
