Once again a reminder that none of these announcements can technically be official prior to noon today.

According to a breaking news report from National Hockey League analyst Aaron Ward, the Montreal Canadiens have grabbed one of the top free agents on the market this summer.

Ward is reporting that that the Canadiens have agreed on a 5-year deal with current Washington Capitals defenseman Karl Alzner and furthermore Ward is also reporting that he believes the deal will be somewhere in the neighborhood of $4.5 million per season.

Alzner is one of the top free agents available on the market this summer and Montreal acquiring him when they are expected to lose veteran defenseman Andrei Markov is an extremely important move for the Habs.
