Case is close

As reported earlier on Wednesday per Elliotte Friedman, the Edmonton Oilers settled arbitration case with Joey LaLeggia. One year, two-way $700K at NHL level.

He was drafted 123rd overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Oilers. With the Bakersfield Condors during the 2016-2017 season, the 25-year-old defenseman scored 20 goals and registered 18 assists in a total of 38 points in 67 games.

According to scouting report found on Hockey's Future, LaLeggia "is a puck-moving defender that has above average hockey sense and processes the game at a very high rate. He has fluid skating skills, is an excellent passer, and can control the power play. The small defender is an offensive blueliner that can score but has difficulty with physicality in the defensive zone."
