Breaking: First round pick will not sign new contract despite rumors.

Earlier today there were rumors that former first round pick Colin White was set to sign his first National Hockey League contract, but those rumors now appear to have been false.

TSN insider Bob McKenzie is reporting that White and the Senatores are not on the same page, and more importantly that he will not be joining them for this final stretch of regular season action or the playoffs.

McKenzie is reporting that the Senatores want to sign White to an ATO that would send him to the American Hockey League for the remainder of the season, but White however has no intention of signing any such deal.

Ottawa would burn a year off White's entry-level deal and we were surprised when rumors today suggested they were going to do just that. This new report from McKenzie appears to be much more in line with the usual practices of owner Eugene Melnyk.
