It may be Thanksgiving all across the United States today, however, it probably felt like Groundhog Day for first rounder Marko Dano, who landed on the waiver wire for the second time this season on Thursday.

As revealed by NHL insider Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Colorado Avalanche have placed Dano on waivers today. Earlier this season, he hit the waiver wire after the Winnipeg Jets sent him on there, and was claimed by the Avalanche.

There were rumblings of several teams having interest in landing Dano during the first time where he was placed on waivers. The Edmonton Oilers were said to have investigate on the 23-year-old centre, who could be a great solution for several clubs in difficulty at the moment. He is often used as a centre but is a very versatile player than can also play wing. He is also great in the face-off circles, despite the fact that he hasn't collected a point in eight games in Colorado.

Dano was selected in the first round, 27th overall in the 2013 NHL entry Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets. He was traded twice before landing in Winnipeg. Dano has 19 goals and 26 assists in 130 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets, Chicago Blackhawks, Jets and Avalanche.

Of course, it seems like a much bigger deal when Dano was first placed on waivers back in October, however the change of scenery has not been beneficial for the young forward. However, the Montreal Canadiens are often mentioned as a team needing depth down the middle and could use a hand when it comes to winning in the face-off circles. The Los Angeles Kings are also looking to get younger and quicker and could look at the waiver wire for some solutions.

Friedman also announced that the Florida Panthers have placed defenseman Josh Brown on waivers today. The 24-year-old blue liner has yet to play a game this season.
