The Calgary Flames surprised many when they made the decision to terminate head coach Bob Hartley just one year after winning the Jack Adams as the National Hockey League's best coach.
The result of that action has been an extensive coaching search, one that has left the Flames without a bench boss just a few weeks away from the NHL's 2016 Entry Draft, one that is expected to result in major roster shuffles and trades as a result of a stagnant cap and a potential expansion draft.
That search appears to be near to an end however, and according to a report from Flames reporter Wes Gilbertson there are now only three candidates left on the short list for Flames head coach. Those names are Randy Carlyle, Glen Gulutzan and Todd Reirdan,
Caryle was most recently the head coach of the Maple Leaf, while Gulutzan and Reirdan are currently both assistant coaches for the Vancouver Canucks and Washington Capitals respectively.
