Breaking: Flames make James Neal a healthy scratch tonight to keep postseason alive!
Zuma Press

The Calgary Flames are on the brink of elimination after the Colorado Avalanche has taken a threatening 3-1 lead in the first round series after winning the last three consecutive games. The Canadian team is back home to keep their postseason alive tonight at the Saddledome.

Head coach Bill Peters needed to find a way to get his guys going and have his best players on the ice. Consequently, he has decided to make forward James Neal a healthy scratch for the do or die contest, per Wes Gilberton

In the past week, footage of Neal and Peters arguing on the ice during practice surfaced as the ice-time of the veteran forward has decreased. Now, it seems the clock will be at zero all night.

Sam Bennett received a well-deserved promotion to the first line tonight and could bring the needed energy to Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan. Elias Lindholm is on the second line with Matthew Tkachuk and Mikael Backlund.

Here is a look at tonight's projected lineup for the Game 5 as they will do everything they can to remain alive another day:

Gaudreau-Monahan-Bennett
Tkachuk-Backlun-Lindholm
Czarnik-Jankowski-Frolik
Mangiapane-RYan-Hathaway

Giordano-Brodie
Hanifin-Hamonic
