The Calgary Flames are trying to find a way to stop the Colorado Avalanche, who has won the last two consecutive games in the series, to take a 2-1 in the first round of the playoffs.

And it seems like one might be on the way.

Defenseman Juuso Valimaki appears set to make his post-season debut for the Flames tonight in Game 4 against the Avalanche in Denver.

During this morning's skate ahead of the pivotal Game 4, Valimaki was paired with Rasmus Anderssen. If he is indeed in the lineup for the Flames, Oscar Fantenberg is expected to be the odd man out.

The 20-year-old blue liner took part in 24 games for the Flames in the regular season, and collected a goal and an assist.

In their Game 3 victory over Calgary, the Avalanche had inserted rookie defenceman and 2017 first rounder, Cale Makar, to their lineup. He recorded the game-wining goal in his NHL playoff debut.

The Flames are hoping Valimaki will be able to do the same.

It was also reported by TSN's Jermaine Franklin that TJ Brodie was back on a pairing with Mark Giordano Wednesday.

Here is the projected lineup for the Flames after the morning skate:

Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik
Bennett-Jankowski-Neal
Mangiapane-Ryan-Hathaway

Giordano-Brodie
Hanifin-Hamonic
Valimaki-Andersson

Smith (Starter)
Rittich
