Breaking: Flyers expected to make major change in goal.

It sounds like the Philadelphia Flyers have plans to move in a new direction in the upcoming National Hockey League season, at least in so far as their goaltending is concerned.

While there hasn't been any kind of official announcement from the team, Philadelphia Flyers insider Sam Carchidi had a chance to catch up to Anton Thun, the agent for goaltender Steve Mason, and it seems clear that relationship is at an end.

“In all honesty, he would have hoped the Flyers would have been interested enough to enter into contract negotiations with him right now, but they didn’t, so you move on,” Thun said as per Philly.com. “That’s business.”

Carchidi reached out to general manager Ron Hextall for comment but Hextall declined to share his thoughts on the situation. One has to wonder if the crafty Flyer's GM has something up his sleeve for this offseason if he's willing to let his starting goaltender walk away.
