Breaking: Flyers make a major change in goal.

The Philadelphia Flyers are finally making the move their fans have been desperately crying out for. 

On Monday the Flyers officially announced a pair of transactions that have now led to a 3rd move from the Flyers organization, and it is that 3rd move that everyone will be talking about around the offices in Philadelphia. First the Flyers announced that they would be placing 24 year old goaltender Anthony Stolarz on injured reserve with an injury that is expected to cost him a decent length of time.

According to the Flyers official website Stolarz is currently dealing with a lower body injury and will need anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks to make a full recovery. To be blunt I highly doubt that the Flyers fan base will miss him very much when you consider how he has performed for the team when called upon thus far this season. For one Stolarz has appeared in only 9 games with the Flyers this season and in those 9 games he has recorded a goals against average of 3.90 and an overall save percentage of .880. Needless to say those are some rather ugly numbers and I have no doubt the Flyers fan base would be willing to give just about anyone else a chance in Stolarz's spot. 

That move was proceeded by another move that looked rather confusing at first. The Flyers also announced that they would be sending down 26 year old goaltender Alex Lyon to the American Hockey League, a move that seemed confusing due to the fact that Stolarz was already going on the sidelines. That being said Lyon's performance has certainly warranted a demotion with the young netminder recording a horrific 5.08 goals against average and an equally abysmal .806 save percentage through his 2 games with the Flyers this season.

The decision to send down Lyon however made a great deal of sense when the Flyers revealed that they would finally be giving their top goaltending prospect a crack at the National Hockey League, or at least so it seems. According to the Flyers official website the team has also recalled goaltender Carter Hart, a goalie that many Flyers' fans view as their saving grace in goal. No word yet on whether or not Hart will serve as a backup or if he will actually get any real playing time, but this is very exciting news for the Flyers' fan base regardless of the circumstances.
