Breaking: Flyers make roster move in advance of home opener
Keystone Press

The Philadelphia Flyers have demoted rookie defenseman Sam Morin to the team’s AHL affiliate the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Morin was a healthy scratch for each of the team’s first four games on the road, but there was some speculation that he may draw into the lineup for tonight’s home opener in Philadelphia.

The 22-year-old former 11th overall pick form the 2013 NHL Entry Draft has managed only a single game in the NHL so far in his young career, but there’s reason to believe he’ll still become an impact player for the Flyers in the long run. The big, 6’6”, 202 lb defender put up 16 points and 129 penalty minutes in 74 games with the Phantoms last year and looks poised to blow those numbers up in his third pro season.
