The Philadelphia Flyers have taken care of an important piece of business.

While there has not yet been an official announcement, Flyers' insider Dave Isaac has reported that the Philadelphia Flyers have signed former first round pick Scott Laughton to a brand new contract.

According to Isaac the contract will be a two-year deal that will carry an average annual value of just $962,500. Isaac has also provided a detailed breakdown of the contract, reporting that it will be $875,000 in the first year of the deal for Laughton and $1.05 million in the second year of his deal.

After appearing in 71 games for the Flyers in the 2015-2016 season Laughton spent the majority of his time in the American Hockey League last season, and it seems likely that both Laughton and the Flyers are hoping he can use the next two years to show the skills that earned him a first round selection in the 2012 National Hockey League Entry Draft.
