Breaking: Flyers take Stolarz off IR, AHL demotion for Hart coming?

The Philadelphia Flyers have activated goaltender Anthony Stolarz off the injured reserve and have assigned him to the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms on a conditioning stint, so as to avoid waivers.

Once Stolarz’s conditioning stint is over, it’s expected that he’ll rejoin the Flyers. Problem is, rookie Carter Hart seems to be doing JUUUUUST fine in the NHL. Hart has journeyman Mike McKenna backing him up. Complicating things even further is the fact that Brian Elliott and Michal Neuvirth are both expected to return from injury at some point, muddying the Flyers’ crease up even further.

One thing’s for sure though, Hart is the future in Philly. While it may end up that he’s the one who gets sent back down to the AHL, there’s no doubt who’ll be between the pipes for the Flyers in 2019-20 and beyond.
