The retirement of veteran National Hockey League forward Bryan Bickell came due to awful circumstances, but it sounds like at the very least he will be going out in style.

A breaking news report from David Haugh of the Chicago Tribune has revealed that Bickell will sign one more NHL contract prior to his retirement, a one-day deal with the Chicago Blackhawks, a deal that will allow him to retire with the team that made him a Stanley Cup Champion.

From Haugh:

A source said Bickell will sign a one-day contract Wednesday with the Blackhawks so he can enter retirement wearing the Indian Head sweater he wore proudly during three Stanley Cup championships.

The multi-time Cup winner was forced to retire following a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, a disease that can wreak havoc on the human nervous system, and one that has understandably derailed the final stages of his career.

That being said, having won the Stanley Cup, something even great players have failed to do, we're sure Bickell will look back on his career with pride. as he should.
