Breaking: Former Canadiens forward reveals the reason he believes the trade happen.

A very different story from a former Montreal Canadien.

A former member of the Montreal Canadiens has spoken out about the trade involving P.K. Subban and he doesn't appear to believe it was a hockey trade, and unlike rumors have suggested, he doesn't think it was motivated by personality either.

According to comments reported by TSN's Amanda Stein former Habs forward Dale Weise completely denied that Subban's personality was the motivation behind the deal, and instead pointed to a mere act of scapegoating by the Canadiens' front office.

"I would say no, I might be a bit biased because we are close as friends. But I never saw problem with it. I think they were looking for an excuse, and I think he was the guy that could be easily targeted as a guy that could be a distraction. You see his personality, you see who he is. He is who he is all the time. What you see on camera, on the ice, that's PK Subban all the time. He doesn't change. I never saw one guy have a problem within the locker room. I think the team was looking to make an excuse. I think he's an easy scapegoat."

It's a damning statement from a guy who was well respected within the city as well as within the organization, and one that probably won't go over well with the fan base.
