We have another trade to announce, and this time the deal has been made between two division rivals, albeit two rivals who have made deals together in recent history.

The Vancouver Canucks have announced that they have traded their former first round draft pick Hunter Shinkaruk, who was drafted in the 2013 NHL entry draft, and in exchange they will receive Markus Granlund from the Calgary Flames, a former second round draft pick in 2011.

Shinkaruk has failed to crack an NHL roster thus far during his time with the organization, only playing a single game at the National Hockey League level as a member of the Canucks. In his 45 games as a member of the AHL Utica Comets this season Shinkaruk has 39 points and a plus minus rating of 2.

Grandlund on the other hand has had considerably more NHL experience by comparison, but has always split time between the NHL and AHL rosters of the Flames organization. In 31 games with the Flames this season he has 8 points and a plus minus rating of -1.
