Breaking: Former first-round pick has been rushed to the hospital
Keystone Press Agency

Former Montreal Canadiens first-round pick, Michael McCarron, has been rushed to the hospital last night, after suffering a severe injury in an AHL game that opposed the Habs' affiliate, the Laval Rocket, and the Syracuse Crunch.

According to a report from Rocket insider Raphael Doucet, the 6-foot-6, 230-pound forward suffered a gruesome ear injury on Friday night. He had to undergo emergency surgery, and will meet the Canadiens' doctors today:

We do not have more information about how severe the injury actually is. However, it sounds like he's going to be alright, and we wish him a speedy recovery.

The huge #34, who was sent down to the Habs' AHL affiliate team once again on November 10, has never been so far from landing a regular spot with the team who selected him in the first round of the 2013 NHL draft. Some believe he just doesn't have what it takes to perform on a regular basis in the National Hockey League.

In 59 games in the NHL, McCarron only scored two goals and five assists for seven points. He's had much more success with the Laval Rocket, as he amassed four goals and seven assists for 11 points in 16 games.
