Breaking: Former Jack Adams winner back behind an NHL bench!
Keystone Press

When a veteran coach is fired, it usually never takes long before he is offered a new job. Especially when you coached 1,493 NHL games, and your name is Lindy Ruff. He was just recently hired by the New York Rangers as an assistant coach.

The 57-year-old coach, who was fired by the Dallas Stars at the end of last season, will replace Jeff Beukeboom.

Ruff has coached the Buffalo Sabres from 1997 to 2012, before joining the Stars in 2013. He recorded 736 wins, 554 losses, 78 ties and 125 overtime losses, and won the Jack Adams trophy, awarded to the league's best coach, in 2006.
