BREAKING: Former Jack Adams winner remains paralyzed and unable to speak.

Sometimes bad things happen to good people. This is the case with former NHL coach Jacques Demers as he suffered two strokes in the last year.

The former Montreal Canadiens’ coach and Canadian Senator is now home since 2016. Veteran journalist Bertrand Raymond reported on rds.ca he remains paralyzed and is unable to speak due to multiple strokes. Raymond met him during the weekend and reported it was very difficult to see his old friend not being able to answer his question and being not able to walk by himself.

Jacques Demers coached five teams in the NHL during his glorious career: The Quebec Nordiques, the St. Louis Blues, the Detroit Red Wings, the Montreal Canadiens and the Tampa Bay Lightning. He is the last Montreal Canadiens head coach to win the Stanley Cup in 1993-1993.

Demers won the Jack Adams award twice (86–87 and 87–88) during his career. This trophy is given to the best NHL head coach during the season.

We would like to send M. Demers all our thoughts and prayers.
