Sportsnet analyst and NHL insider Chris Johnston is reporting that former Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Roman Polak will join the team’s training camp on a professional tryout (PTO) contract.

The most interesting part of this development? The fact that Johnston reports how likely Polak is to get a deal. The 31-year-old defenseman played 75 games for the Leafs last season, putting up four goals and 11 points. Known for his stay-at-home defensive game, Polak played mostly alongside fellow veteran Matt Hunwick last season but also saw some time with smooth skaters Jake Gardiner and Morgan Rielly. While the addition of Timothy Liljegren in the draft this past summer looked to make Polak expendable, look for the veteran to push the team’s young players in training camp.

What do you think, Leafs fans? Good move? Bad move?
