Breaking: Former NHL All-Star has sadly passed away.

The Chicago Blackhawks have just made a tragic announcement, revealing that former National Hockey League All-Star Bill White has passed away at the age of 77 years old.

Here is the Blackhawks official statement:

"The Chicago Blackhawks organization extends its thoughts and heartfelt condolences to Bill White's family as we mourn his loss. He will be remembered as a leader, generous teammate and tough player to play against. His energetic style helped the Blackhawks see great success during his tenure with the team."

Not only was White an NHL All-Star defenseman, but he managed to be one in six consecutive seasons, an incredibly impressive feat by any stretch of the imagination.

Fans north of the border however will likely best remember him as a member of Canada's 1972 Summit Series team where he helped his country claim a gold medal victory at that tournament.

Over an NHL career that spanned 604 games, White recordced 50 goals and 215 assists for 265 career points.

Our thoughts go out to his family and loves ones in this difficult time.
